Display & Brightness -> Always On Display -> Show Wallpaper. I turned it off and got significantly better battery life. It’s also just a horrible implementation, I want a simple black and white clock, battery percentage, and icons for notifications. It’s way too distracting. youcan turn off the always on display, which I wouldn't. but if you do, then the face will be blank when at rest and will always be white on a wrist raise. 1.
